The Beginning of Our Maine Coon Journey
Our story with Maine Coons began with a special rescue named Cash. He was a Maine Coon/Siberian mix who had fallen into a poor breeding situation at just four months old. At that time, we were active in fostering and rescuing animals, offering our farm as a safe haven for cats and other pets in need. When Cash arrived, he quickly became part of our family, and his presence forever changed our hearts.
A Passion for Research and Education
As we spent more time with Cash, our fascination with Maine Coons deepened. This led us to embark on a four-year journey of research and education about the breed. We studied every genetic detail and ancestral connection, determined to understand and preserve the true qualities of Maine Coons. Our dedication to learning allowed us to fully appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of the breed.
Genetics and Responsible Breeding
Breeding is a careful process that goes beyond simply choosing cats that can breed. We believe that just because a cat can be bred, doesn't mean it should be. We prioritize the health and well-being of both our cats and their future kittens, which is why extensive testing is a vital part of our breeding program.
Comprehensive Health Screening
To ensure the genetic integrity of our Maine Coons, all of our breeding cats undergo rigorous testing for hereditary disorders such as HCM, PKD, SMA, and PK. In addition, we perform hip X-rays and annual echocardiograms to monitor heart health. Our breeding cats also undergo DNA testing to further guarantee that we are producing healthy, strong kittens with the best genetic foundation.
